updog downdog
Strictly speaking, not an art, but yoga is one of my current interests. I say current because according to me, change is the only permanent thing in life.
I need to collect some animal/insect/bird poses for teaching a bunch of kids.
Dog: up dog and down dog of course
Adho-mukha-svana-asana : down-facing-dog-pose
urdhva-mukha-svana-asana: up-facing-dog-pose
Camel: ustra-asana. face looks up, hands on ankles, kneel down position, back bent.
Cow: Go-mukha-asana: cow-faced-pose: if you squint your eyes really well, you can figure out the cow face :-) legs crossed over other, hands touching behind back.
Eagle: Garuda-asana: body is all twisted up. Reminds me of vadivelu in his first movie.
Heron: Krouncha-asana: It hurts to look. One leg bent under, the other stretched straight up with opposite hand holding the heel. Can probably do this with practice.
Cobra: Bhujanga-asana: head, shoulder and elbows up like a snake.
Crane: Baka-asana: hand stand or sitting rather. kind of like a squat with legs not touching the floor.
Pigeon: Eka-pada-raja-kapota-asana as in one-legged-king-pigeon-pose. do the basic pigeon pose and then lift leg back and up and touch head while leaning back. hands on toes/feet.
fish: matsya-asana: rest on your back, lift upper half resting on elbows, looking up and back.
locust: salabha-asana: basically resting on your tummy, rest of your body is balanced.
duck: not sure where I saw this. basically squatting, elbows tucked like a duck and walk like that, if possible on toes.
